In 2004, a few mysterious bruises on Ted's back shoulder led to a diagnosis that changed the course of his life - Lymphoma. The journey that followed was a rollercoaster, with 2013 marking a turning point when the cancer accelerated and the outlook turned grim.
But it was in 2019 when he received a devastating terminal diagnosis, and the world seemed to crumble around him. Ted faced it with a heavy heart and fully believed my time was running out.
It's here that the incredible team of doctors, led by his heroes, Dr. Rosen and Dr. Budde at City of Hope, stepped in. In 2020, they took a leap of faith, opting for an experimental treatment - CAR-T cell therapy. It was Ted's last glimmer of hope, and the results were nothing short of a miracle!
Today, he's here as a living testament to the power of perseverance, cutting-edge medicine, and the unwavering dedication of an exceptional medical team. Ted's gratitude knows no bounds for Dr. Rosen, Dr. Budde, and the team of doctors and nurses who fought tirelessly to save his life. His journey reminds us all that miracles happen and hope shines even in the darkest of times. Ted cherishes every moment and celebrate life with profound gratitude.
This journey has taught him the true meaning of resilience, hope, and the power of a supportive community. Ted is grateful for those who  are still by his side, continuing to light his path with your unwavering support. Let's continue to cherish every moment and inspire others with the message that there's always hope, even in the face of the darkest challenges.

A $15 million gift to City of Hope to accelerate immunotherapy research, including the CAR T cell therapy that saved my life. I'm profoundly grateful for Dr. Steve Rosen and the exceptional team at City of Hope for their life-saving work. Every dollar of my donation goes towards lymphoma cancer research.

My journey has been one of hope and resilience, and I'm overjoyed to see the impact this gift can make. The Schwartz Family's commitment to advancing cancer treatments will undoubtedly make a difference in the lives of many.

In an expression of gratitude for the Schwartz gift, City of Hope is naming a planned 1.65-acre garden in honor of the Schwartz family. “The Ted Schwartz Family Hope and Healing Park” will open in 2024 at the Los Angeles City of Hope campus, offering a peaceful space for patients and visitors. The garden is expected to provide comfort and inspiration to people who are battling cancer and their families.
